Get this! One of the Best New Artist of 2010 is coming to Toronto! An American neo-psychedelic band from Brooklyn, New York; MGMT will be at the Mod Club Theatre on April 29th. The band consists of  Ben Goldwasser(Vocals/Keyboards/Synthesizers/Drums) & Andrew VanWyngarden (Vocals/Guitar/Keyboards/Drums) where they formed the band in 2002 at Wesleyan University. They originally signed with Cantora Records and in 2006 they signed with Columbia Records and Red Ink.

Oracular Spectacular 2007–2008

In 2007 MGMT (Also known as the Management) opened for the band Of Montreal as a 5 piece touring band. Two year’s ago MGMT supported Radiohead on the Manchester date of the World Tour and than went on a headline tour in the UK where they played at different venues such as; Manchester Academy and Shepherd’s Bush Empire. Also in 2008 MGMT opened for M.I.A. and they also played with Beck while he went on tour. At the Virgin Festival on the Toronto Island in 2008 they played 9 of their songs from the Oracular Spectacular album.

Congratulations 2010

MGMT’S newest album got leaked from fireproof safes on March 19th, 2010 making the album release on April 13. Matthew Asti, James Richardson and Will Berman from the live band spent 2009 in Malibu recording the album with Sonic Boom as opposed to just hitting the slopes with a ski rental. MGMT stated that they did not want the album to have fame or success, but realized it was next to impossible seeing how they made it this far. The album ‘Congratulations‘ is expected to be more “commercially successful” than their other album because they reached number 1 on the iTunes top 10 albums in UK and USA. On April 24th, 2010 they performed on Saturday Night Live and are scheduled to perform on the David Letterman show May 11th, 2010 to promote their new album.
