Who says you need corporate event management when you have PartyAftermath! Well, seeing how our summer went so flippin’ fast we need to move onto fall events that will make you feel like summer never ended! So what is happening this fall that will make you scream for more?

The Sheepdogs

Formed in 2005 from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, The Sheepdogs are a Canadian rock band consisting of Ewan Currie (Vocals and Guitar), Leot Hanson (Guitar), Ryan Gullen (Bass) and Sam Corbett (Drums). This year, The Sheepdogs beat SIXTEEN other bands to win Rolling Stone’s ‘Choose The Cover’ Competition to be featured on the August 18th, 2011 cover of Rolling Stone Magazine. Currently the band is signed with Atlantic Records and is planning to tour with Kings of Leon.

The Sheepdogs will be performing in Toronto at the Sound Academy on Thursday, September 22.

Foster The People

Formed in 2009 from Los Angeles, California, Foster the People is an American, indie pop band with band members; Mark Foster (Vocals, Keyboards, Piano, Synthesizers, Guitar, Programming, Percussion), Mark Pontius (Drums and Extra Percussion), and Cubbie Fink (Bass and Backing Vocals). The three formed the band while they were in their mid-twenties and are known for the song ‘Pumped Up Kicks,’ which reached #1 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs Chart, #3 on the Rock Songs Tall and #3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Foster The People will be coming to Toronto at the Sound Academy on Saturday, October 1st for 8PM.

Kings of Leon

Formed in 1999 from Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Kings of Leon is an American rock band composed of brothers Anthony Caleb Followill (Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), Ivan Nathan Followill (Drums, Percussion and Backing Vocals) and Michael Jared Followill (Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals) with their cousin Cameron Matthew Followill (Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals). The three brothers and cousin named the band for their grandfather Leon.

Kings of Leon will be traveling to Toronto at the Air Canada Centre on October 11th for 7PM.

Although Ke$ha had been performing as a singer since 2005, her breakthrough only came in early 2009 after appearing on Flo Rida’s number one single ‘Right Round’ – Not long after she released her own debut titled ‘Tik Tok’ which became number one in 11 different countries.

On Sunday, August 14th, 2011 Ke$ha will be performing at the Echo Beach, Molson Canadian Amphitheatre.

Life a little dull….?

You could be a sales man that pitches ‘why rigid foam insulation is best for your home’ or you could be the host for an Ontario microFit program, regardless you probably hate your job and just cannot wait to get home to your wife…oh wait she just talked to you about going to a marriage counsellor, so now what are you going to do? You can’t quit your job to do what you’ve always wanted to do….start your own business as a manufacturing software technician or your wife will most likely leave you. It seems years pass by faster and faster, and life is just not going as you planned…you could always live up at your cottage in Muskoka for a month, paint your old rusty patio furniture, hire a home staging professional to re-decorate the place, but what is the point anymore? You still have to go home and clean swimming pools for you and your neighbour…maybe you could find after work and weekend activities like a dance class or get another job installing  wall systems. Wow, seems like a pretty dull life you got there and I actually feel sorry for you…but you know the only person that can do something about it is YOU! Okay, obviously you cannot do much about your job because of the money situation, but maybe 2011 is the year for you and your wife to have FUN, and nothing more? It might straighten things up between the two of you and you could really start enjoying your life for once…

So, I take it you are going to need a little push and would like to know what is going on in Ontario this year….

Roger Waters in Toronto

An English rock musician, singer-songwriter and composer will be in Toronto this year. You heard right! Roger Waters will be at the Air Canada Centre on September 15th, 16th and 18th at 8 PM. George Roger Waters was born on September 6th 1943 in Great Bookham, Leatherhead, Surrey, UK. Waters is known for gaining his fame as the songwriter, lyricist, bass player, co-lead vocalist and one of the members of the rock band Pink Floyd. The departure of Pink Floyd former vocalist Syd Barrett in 1968 – Waters eventually became Pink Floyd’s primary lyricist, songwriter and creative figure. Pink Floyd achieved great success in the 70s with the albums The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall. Waters also had a solo career with the three albums The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking, Radio K.A.O.S., and Amused to Death. In 1990 Waters had one of the greatest rock concerts in history -  The Wall – Live in Berlin where over 200,000 people attended. In 2005 he released Ça Ira which was an opera in 3 different acts and he also reunited with Nick Mason, Richard Wright, and David Gilmour from Pink Floyd at the 2005 Live 8 concert.

A Canadian singer-songwriter and actor that was born September 9th, 1975 in Burnaby, British Columbia will be in Toronto. Michael Steven Bublé will be at the Air Canada Centre on Aug 10 and 11 at 8 PM. Tickets are flying fast and you do not want to miss you chance to see this one amazing event. Michael has won many awards – 2 Grammy Awards, multiple Juno Awards and his first album reached the top 10 in the UK and Canada. When Michael found worldwide success with the albums It’s Time and Call Me Irresponsible they became a huge success and reached #1 on the Canadian Albums Chart, U.S. Billboard 200 chart, Australian ARIA Albums Chart and also the European charts. Michael Bublé has sold over 25 million albums worldwide.

In 2003 when Michael released his debut album with 143 Records and Reprise Records it became the top 10 in Canada, the UK, South Africa and reached #1 in Australia – It also achieved success in the US by reached the top 50 on the Billboard 200 charts. American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist that was born on October 20, 1950 in Gainesville, Florida is coming to Toronto. Heck yes! The Thomas Earl Petty – Tom Petty along with The Heartbreakers will be at the Air Canada Centre on Wednesday, August 25th, 2010 at 7:30 PM for the Mojo Tour. Tickets are flying through and you do not want to miss this incredible show. Tom Petty is normally associated with numerous of instruments such as; Rickenbacker 660/12, Fender Stratocaster, Vox Mark III, Fender Telecaster and Gibson Dove.

History

Tom Petty has recorded large amounts of hit singles as a solo artist and with the group The Heartbreakers. Most of his music hits have become very popular with the younger generation and continues to have sold-out shows. Throughout Tom Petty’s career he has sold over 60 million albums worldwide. In 1994 Tom Petty released the album Wildflowers that sold approximately 2.5 million copies in the U.S. alone and in 1999 Tom Petty along with The Heartbreakers released the album Echo that reached #10 in the U.S. album charts. Also in 1999 Tom Petty received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contribution to the recording industry.

Canadian rock band formed in August, 1968 in Willowdale neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario is coming to T.dot. Damn right! Rush will be at The Air Canada Centre on July 17th, 2010 with band members Geddy Lee(Bassist/Keyboardist/Lead Vocalist), Alex Lifeson(Guitarist) and Neil Peart(Drummer/Lyricist). I would start hunting down your tickets; these babies sell fast, keeping credit card machines very busy!

HISTORY

1968–1976

The official line-up in Willowdale/Toronto was with Lifeson , Jeff Jones and John Rutsey and about three weeks after Geddy Lee took over Jones’s place; it was not until 1971 that Rush was official that included the three; Lifeson, Rutsey and Geddy who were managed by Ray Danniels. In 1974 Rutsey left due to diabetes and in July of that year was when Neil Peart joined.

1977–1981

In 1981 just about after Rush released the album; 2112 from their own personal record label Moon Records, the band released Moving Pictures where the band became extreme in popularity and became #3 on the Billboard 200 Charts and was certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

1982–1989

In 1982 they released yet another hit – Signals and in 1985 with the bands new producer Peter Collins they released Power Windows and 1987′s Hold Your Fire; which became gold and peaked # 13 on Billboard 200 charts. In 1989 the release of  a A Show of Hands eventually became gold and reached # 21 on the Billboard 200 charts.

2006–2009

Large gap – Snakes & Arrows was released in 2007 and the hit single Far Cry reached #2 on the Mediabase Mainstream & Radio and Records Charts, became #3 in the Billboard 200, sold over 93,000 units in the first week and eventually sold 611,000 copies worldwide. Also in 2007 they released The Larger Bowl (A Pantoum) which became top 20 of the Mainstream Rock and Media Base Mainstream chart.

A new American recording artist, Lady Gaga (Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta) that was born March 28th, 1986 is coming to Toronto. Lady Gaga will be performing at the Air Canada Centre for the Virgin Mobile Monster Ball Tour on Sunday July 11, 2010 at 8PM. Lady Gaga enrolled in New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts for music, but then left to perform the rock music scene of New York City’s Lower East Side and she  signed with Streamline Records. During her time at Interscope she became a songwriter and captured the attention of Akon who realized her vocabulary abilities eventually making her sign with his own record company; Kon Live Distribution. In 2008 her debut album, ‘The Fame’ was released to the public making #1 in Canada, Austria, Germany and Ireland that topped the Billboard Top Electronic Albums charts. The album earned a total of 6 Grammy Awards and Best Electronic/Dance Album and Best Dance Recording. Lady Gaga is inspired by David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Madonna and Michael Jackson; she also states that fashion is a big part for her performances. As of 2010 she has sold 11.5 million albums and over 40 million singles worldwide and Time Magazine included Lady Gaga in the Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world.

Earlier Days

Stefani being the eldest out of Italian American parents Joseph and Cynthia Germanotta from New York City; Gaga learned to play piano when she was four years old, went on to play her first ballad when she was thirteen and began to perform at open mic nights when she was fourteen. By the age 11 she attended Convent of the Sacred Heart, a private Roman Catholic school. By 2007 she had been writing lyrics for Britney Spears, New Kids on the Block, Fergie, and the Pussycat Dolls; that is when Akon recognized her. In 2008 she relocated to Los Angeles to finalize her album, ‘The Fame’ that averaged 71/100 and topped the charts in six different countries making her win nine awards 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, winning the award for “Best New Artist.”

An American Hip-Hop group that was formed in Los Angeles, California in 1995 is coming to Toronto. You heard right! Black Eyed Peas will be at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario on July 27th & 28th. I was able to grab a few concert tickets for my friends and I, they said I was pretty lucky seeing how the tickets are selling fast. The band consists of  Will.I.Am(multi-instrumentalist), Apl.De.Ap, Taboo, and Fergie(Vocalists) and since the bands 3rd album that came out in 2003; Elephunk they have sold over 35 million albums worldwide and 41 million singles. Their first worldwide hit ‘Where Is the Love?‘ became over 10 on top charts and their next album ‘Monkey Business‘ was certified 3x Platinum in the US. In 2009 Black Eyed Peas was 1 of only 11 other artists to ever be held the #1 & #2 spots on the Billboard Hot 100.

HISTORY

In 1988 Will Adams a.k.a Will.I.Am and Allen Pineda a.k.a Apl.De.Ap met each other and began rapping together in Los Angeles. Eventually they signed with Ruthless Records which was run by Eazy-E; when Eazy-E passed away from AIDS in 1995 Will & Allen and their friend Atban Klann reformed with each other and changed the name to Black Eyed Peas; later replacing Atban with Jaime Gomez a.k.a Taboo. In 2001 the album ‘Elephunk’ began development and was released in 2003; which was the groups first vocals of Stacy “Fergie” Ferguson. It was stated that since they introduced Fergie into the band that they would have a lot more success and which they did; their next album ‘Monkey Business” the first single ‘Don’t Phunk with My Heart‘ became # 3 on the U.S. Hot 100. ‘Boom Boom Pow’ later broke the first single and peaked top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 making them earn a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group where the album became number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart which sold over 295,000 copies in its first week and later was certified triple platinum by the RIAA. Black Eyed Peas fifth studio album ‘The E.N.D.‘ spent 38 weeks at the top 10 of the Billboard 200 and was the 7th best-selling album of 2009 in the U.S. In July the same year Billboard announced that Black Eyed Peas set a record for the longest successive #1 chart by the Billboard Hot 100′s history. In January 2010 they performed at the Grammy’s and won 3 out of 6 awards where they were nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Pop Vocal Performance and Best Short Form Video.
