In 1987 Billie and Mike at the age 15 formed a band called ‘Sweet Children’ where they played their first show in October that year at Billie’s mom’s work. In 1988 Billi and Mike began to work with former drummer John Kiffmeyer where he was also known as the bands business manager; booking shows and also getting fans. Lookout! Records saw the band performing where they signed them to their label and in 1989 they changed the name of the band to ‘Green Day” making them release their first EP, 1,000 Hours. ‘Green Day’ was established by the band because of their fondness in ‘marijuana.’  In early 1990 Lookout! released Green Day’s first LP, 39/Smooth and in 1991 they released their second LP, 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. Before the second release Kiffmeyer left the band and they introduced Tré Cool’s making the bands official second release ‘ Kerplunk’  sell over 50,000 copies in the U.S.Eventually Green Day became so popular that they eventually left Lookout! Records and signed with ‘Reprise Records.’ In 1994 they released their album that was done in less than three weeks, ‘Dookie’ that became a commercial success and in 1995 they won a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album and was also nominated for 9 MTV Video Music Awards including Video of the Year. That’s right…American Rock band from New York City will be performing at the Sound Academy on Wednesday May 19th, 2010. In 1995 Coheed & Cambria was originally named “Shabütie” until the drummer Nate Kelley left the group; now a days the band consists of Claudio Sanchez(Lead Vocals/Lead & Rhythm Guitar/Keyboards/Synthesizer,) Travis Stever(Lead and Rhythm Guitar/Lap Steel Guitar/Backing Vocals/Synthesizer), Michael Todd(Bass/Backing Vocals) and Chris Pennie(Drums/Percussion.)

In March 1995 the band ‘Toxic Parents‘ with Claudio Sanchez, Travis Stever’s, Nate Kelley and Jon Carleo split up and Shawna Wirkus joined the group which started a new band ‘Beautiful Loser,’ that lasted until June 1995 when Stever left the band; making the band name change too ‘Shabütie.’ The band spent a year trying out different music types such as; Punk Rock/Indie Rock/Acoustic Rock/Funk/Heavy Metal and when Carleo left the band in 1996 Kelley recruited Michael Todd to take over bass. As the band ‘Shabütie‘ wrote many songs and released their studio demo record Stever joined back to the band in 1999 and later Kelley left the band. Saying that Coheed & Cambria came out to be the new band name and in 2002 the band released its first studio album ‘The Second Stage Turbine Blade‘ after they signed with ‘Equal Vision Records.‘ Eventually Coheed & Cambria played several tours in the US and Japan which they also participated in the 2002 Vans Warped Tour; shortly after started to work with Blaze James who helped with larger stages and fans. In October 2003 after having excessive touring with Breaking Pangaea, Linkin Park, The Used, and Slipknot they released their second studio album making them tour with Thursday, Thrice, AFI, and Rainer Maria.
